The last time I posted an entry on my rats was two months ago; I've been busy with work and contemplating removing my blog. I've decided to take a break from having pet rats; my heart needs it. After my girls died I was busy providing care to Percy and Cohen who became ill and just as Percy made a full recovery he suddenly passed away. Only Cohen remains and he has become sick again with myco. It's been hard. In my opinion, rats do make the best small animal pets. They are so fun and can be so loving. But they are sick so often (which becomes expensive and heartbreaking) and have such short lives. My heart can no longer cope with the illnesses, old age, and deaths. Maybe someday I'll return to having rats but for the time being I need a break. Cohen is still with me, but I'm afraid, for not much longer but he continues to fight. I realize he will be alone but I try to spend as much time with as possible. But, Cohen has always been my aloof boy. Bright Blessings everyone.
RIP Percy

So very sorry for your losses. :-(
Oh, I'm so sorry for the loss of Percy. RIP little man. I hope Cohen hangs on in good health for a bit. I understand needing to take a break. My husband wouldn't allow me to get any more rats after Sugar because he gets so attached when they leave he's devastated. Many hugs to you friend. *hug*
Totally understand, Iove and blessings :)
Oh sweetie!! I have been there. That is why I no longer have pet ratties. The heartbreak I could not handle. They make a wonderful pet, but I spent so much on vet bills too. Now its just the dogs and kitties. Hugs to you. So sorry for your losses.
Sorry for your loss of Percy, and for all the sadness you have been experiencing. Rats are such amazing and fun pets, but I could not imagine having to say goodbye so soon.. I am sure the break will do you some good. I am also sure Mabel will not object on the extra attention she will get.
Take care!
I am sorry for your loss of Percy and I fully understand you need a break. I have decided that, though of course I hope my boys will live long and happy lifes for the times to come, that there will no new rats here either. For the same reasons you mention. I love them SO much, they are wonderful pets, but they always leave us too soon.
And I just can't take it anymore.
Hugs and lots of love,
for Cohen too,

What color variety was Percy? My siamese/ himilayan baby boy, Cicero, looks just like him. Sorry about your loss...its amazing how something so little can make our hearts feel so big with love!
Shawna, the rat rescue I adopted Percy from, said he was a Siamese.
