My Dæmon

Our mum rented the movie "The Golden Compass" the other evening and she loved it (yes, it's a kid's movie but sometimes mum doesn't act her age)! She also really enjoyed the book written by Philip Pullman. Today mum visited the official movie site and took a test to reveal who her Dæmon would be. We were all hoping mum's Dæmon was a rat of course, but it turned out to be Myron a hare which indicates she is solitary, spontaneous, modest, shy, and flexible.
Vacation, Movies, and Introductions

This week mum went away on vacation and left us behind, except for Oliver and Raven since they needed medication twice a day. Apparently, mum went to Peggy’s Cove and Halifax, NS. Although, mum left us behind we were in very good hands, as Auntie Moe rat-sat us. Our mum sometimes cat-sits for Auntie Moe – a beautiful Persian cat called Fluffy. During her vacation, mum also went to see the movies The X-Files: I want to Believe and The Dark Knight which were two great movies. Mum also visited a butterfly "farm" where they raise butterflies and also went to the beach. We are not impressed that mum did not bring us but we did get new toys when she returned!
Introducing Poe to the others is going rather slowly. Basically, except for Emma, we are not fond of this new guy mum calls Poe. According to mum, she has some introduction tricks up her sleeve that will convince us that Poe is a sweet guy…time will tell.

Bath Time

Poe: This morning my new human decided to give me a bath. Apparently, my rat cologne (a.k.a. buck grease) was becoming very unappealing. Personally, I think I smelled just fine. But, I was a good boy and didn't try once to bite or scratch my new human and I did get kisses and treats for cooperating. Well, as for the other rats, the gentlemen have stopped snorting and puffing up but the ladies are still not appreciating my good looks and charm **sigh**.

This past weekend our human went to visit Campobello Island but, sadly, left us behind (no rats allowed!) but wishes she could have taken us. Anyway, she said it was beautiful, relaxing, and very tranquil.

New Rat on the Block

Hello! My name is Poe, after the fabulous writer Edgar Allen Poe. I was just recently rescued from a vacant apartment. I was all alone in this dark apartment (although I did have food and water, luckily) for about a week. My previous humans decided not to take me with them when they moved out and left me behind. My new human received a call asking if she would be willing to rescue me from the apartment and foster me until a new home is found. Well, I’ve been just informed that I am staying because my new human has fallen in love with me! She says I’m absolutely adorable. I also love to play and I’m super friendly. At the moment I’m alone in a cage until I’m ready to meet the other furkids. And based on the snorting and puffiness that’s going on with the other rats, they are not ready to meet me. Since being here, I’ve been getting lots of human kisses, veggies, fruits, treats, toys, and a new hammock! I also get to run around in a big playpen filled with toys. This is not a bad spot at all and I think I’ll stay.

Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
