Spring Flood

With all the tons and tons of snow we had this winter the river (which flows through the middle of the city) overflowed its banks this spring. Here are a few pictures - the quality is poor because it was near dusk.

Once upon a time there was a road leading to some houses.

Walking trail ends here...time to get the canoe out.

Walking trail has disappeared along with the trail signs.

There use to be a walking trail and park benches.

Byron Oct 2005-April 2008

I had my sweet squishy Byron euthanized today; it was the right decision as the vet and I did the best we could but his health just kept deteriorating. Sadly, I could see he was no longer his happy self...it was time to say goodbye.

Petition

I belong to a stop animal cruelty group and this was posted to the group this morning. Why is this sick cruelty going on in the world?!

Starving Dogs is not art - Please stop this Artist!

Description:
In 2007, Guillermo Vargas Habacuc, a so called artist, took an abandoned dog from the streets, tied him to a very short rope to a wall in an art gallery, and left a kettle of food on the other side of the room, beyond his reach, and left him there to slowly die of hunger and thirst.

The so-called artist of such cruelty and the visitors of the gallery of art watched the agony of this animal. The dog finally died of famine, surely after a painful, absurd and incomprehensible torture.

The prestigious Centralamerican Biennial of Art decided that this horrible act committed by this guy was art, and Guillermo Vargas Habacuc has been invited to repeat his cruel actions in said Biennial in 2008.

If you go to this website there is a petition to try to stop this from happening again. Also links to the previous 'art work'.

Squishy Lazy Sunday Afternoon

Although, only Emma and Oliver are peaking through, all six rats were squished in their new tube-like hammock. Since Byron does not have complete use of his legs, he still managed, some how, to crawl into the hammock with the others!

Byron II

Mom took me to the very kind veterinarian this week and supposedly I had a stroke and myco has also reared its ugly head. But, I'm not in pain nor suffering and the veterinarian believes I can still have a good quality life even though one side of my body is not functioning all that well. I'm also on some horrible tasting medicine that mom assures me will help. On the plus side, I've been extra cuddling with mom because I adore all this extra attention she's lavishing on me!

Byron the very first night with me, 2 years ago.
