Dear Readers,
Mum still hasn't bought a new camera to take pictures of us cute little critters so we are offering some pictures from the past. Mum couldn't imagine rat piles being comfortable, especially when we piled-up in tight quarters..enjoy!

Dear Readers,
Mom had to bring to the vet this week because I sounded congested and the vet put me on terrible tasting medications Baytril and Doxycycline; but mom knows how to sweeten these meds which is a bonus! Mom also noticed that I was getting up there in age - I'm 2 years and 6 months old which is about 75 years in human years. Mom was a bit sad over my entering the geriatric years but besides sounding stuffed-up I am doing just fine. Although, I do rest more and I am slowing down. Mom says she'll be taking out the geriatric cage soon so I can get around much easier.
Oh, on an unrelated note, we are having a visitor to our bird feeders - a cute chipmunk! The canine Mabel would love to chase s/her but of course, mom won't let her!

Good day Readers,
Well, mum's camera is not working well so we haven't been updating our blog much. We really hope mum gets a new camera as soon as possible.
Now, us rats have decided to write a "Rattie Crew Declaration of Rat Rights" for the canine and human before making Mabel an official member of the Rattie Crew. Here's the draft letter: (Did we leave anything out?)
All rats are born free and equal in dignity and rights. We are endowed with reason and conscience; not just canines and humans.
All rats have the right to be treated with kindness from humans and canines.
All rats are entitled to privacy, respect, rights and freedoms regardless of our shape, fur colour, squeaks, age, gender, etc.
All rats have the right right to life, liberty, safety, and security from humans and canines.
All rats will not be held in servitude by humans or canines; on the other hand, humans and canines can be held in servitude by rats.
We will not be teased, chased, harrassed, barked at in any way by canines or humans.
If anything is found chewed or damaged all rats are presumed innocent; although, canines may be investigated by designated human.
All rats have the right to freedom of movement without fear; but canine movements will be restricted when rats are outside their residence.
All rats have the right to their own clean residence that include fresh bedding, food, water, and toys, without sharing such residence with a canine; canine will have their own bed, dishes, etc. safely away from rat residence.
All rats have the right to safe freedom of assembly and association without danger from canines or humans.
All rats have the right to rest and leisure; humans also have said right especially if leisure involves playing with rats but must also work to provide the necessities for rats. Canines may also have the right to rest and leisure only if said recreation does not involve chasing, teasing, barking, or harrassing rats.
Lastly, all rats have the right to (and deserve) kisses, scrtiches, cuddles, and treats from humans regardless if a canine is present.
